Kelly S. Clemens

M.A. in Psychology and Counseling

My research examines how psychosocial factors influence health, with a focus on the impact of health-related thoughts, feelings, and behaviors on treatment perceptions, behaviors, and outcomes.

Research Interests

Treatment perceptions, decision-making, behaviors, and outcomes; expectancy and emotion as related to treatment relevant variables; placebo and nocebo effects; complementary and alternative medicine

You can find my CV here.

Improving health outcomes often requires the implementation of treatments, which encompass both medical, psychological, and manual interventions. Increasing uptake and adherence to these treatments, understanding the perceptions and decision-making processes related to the treatments patients choose, and understanding how psychosocial factors influence treatment outcomes are key factors related to that implementation. My research focuses specifically on how cognitive and affective processes impact treatment-related factors.
